Vacation - Day 9

August 21st, 2007

Today our vacation travels take us to New Mexico and Arizona courtesy of Amtrak. This time I was better prepared for the journey and packed not only kid-friendly, but momma-friendly food. So while the children enjoyed the novelty of eating in the dining and cafe car, I’ve eaten yummy live food and am much more comfortable on the return trip home :-) The children are completly at home on the train and are enjoying traveling with the Boy Scouts onboard. After dinner in the dining car with a beautiful New Mexico sunset, we retired to the sight-seeing car to watch the night sky and played MORE 30 SECOND MYSTERIES SPINNER BOOK TRAVEL GAME. I knit on my lovely silk and angora ballet socks (no toes, no heel) and soaked up each and every moment. This vacation has been such a blessing :-) Now we are back in our seats and after tucking them in and saying their prayers, they are all fast asleep and I am blogging on Tomoko, my iPhone. It has been a good day :-)

Wabi Sabi Me Set Up Part II

August 1st, 2007

Okay, so here we are two days into this new venture, and I am taking a moment to reflect on my progress:

  1. Wabi Sabi Me is now on technorati and I have 1 fan :-)
  2. Wabi Sabi Me has a flickr account
  3. Wabi Sabi Me tweets

I am also taking pleasure in the new minimalistic design. Most of the WordPress themes are too busy for the quite retreat that I want Wabi Sabi Me to be. So I will continue to tweak the basic Kubrick code a bit, here and there…

What still remains:

  • Add a handful of plug-ins. I want Wabi Sabi Me to be iPhone compatible, and I want each entry to be time stamped. I also need the plug-ins to post by iPhone/email, access flickr photos, etc…

I started Wabi Sabi Me to help me focus on balance in my life — the never-ending struggle of every mother. I am finding that even the set up is an exercise in mindfulness. How very wabi sabi…

Wabi Sabi Me Set Up

July 30th, 2007

Okay, mad blog itch has finally been scratched! In the early a.m. Wabi Sabi Me went live. Thank you Greg at Go Daddy!

Next up:

  1. Configure for blogging by email - I’ve done some reading at WordPress about this, but still haven’t wrapped my mind around it.
  2. Configue for iPhone compatibility - I want Tomoko — my iphone, he’s a he, by the way :-) — to be able to view Wabi Sabi Me in all it’s glory!
  3. Upload an appropriate template - again, looking at the WordPress Themes, but so far have seen nothing that captures my wabi sabi essence. I’ve popped open CS3 and started doodling…
